Reduce limescale without stripping minerals
Protect pipes and appliances from calcite build-up
Enjoy zero maintenance and zero waste
Hard water headaches
Scaly showers that won't scrub clean. Speckled glasses fresh from the wash. Kettles and coffee machines with calcium-crusted components.
Millions of Australians deal with limescale and calcite throughout their homes. Mineral-rich water is great for drinking, but less great when it’s turning into clinging calcium deposits that can etch glass, breed bacteria, and limit the efficiency and lifespans of expensive appliances.
Scaleclear does:
Reduce limescale & soap scum
Extend the lifespans of appliances
Improve efficiency for hot water systems
Scaleclear does not:
Require ongoing maintenance or cartridge replacements
Remove healthy minerals
Generate wastewater or landfill
Which flow fits your home?
Scaleclear is powered by water pressure, and the two different models are designed for different household flow rates.
"LOW FLOW" AND "HIGH FLOW" REFER TO THE MINIMUM REQUIRED FLOW RATE FOR EACH MODEL TO OPERATE, NOT THE AMOUNT OF WATER THEY LET THROUGH. IF YOUR HOME IS ON THE BORDER BETWEEN MODELS, OPT FOR LOW FLOW.
If you don't know your home's flow rate off the top of your head, scroll down to our Scaleclear FAQs for a quick way to test and calculate it.
Size does matter, but bigger isn’t always better
Always check your flow rate (from an outdoor/unrestricted tap) before purchasing a conditioner.
Water flows over the conditioning spiral, generating a charge.
The charge breaks down and alters calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) molecules while they're still suspended in your water.
Restructured CaCO₃ flows into your home, crystallising when it comes into contact with heat or changes in pressure.
Instead of turning into clinging calcite or limescale, the reconditioned molecules become a loose aragonite residue that wipes right off.
Sustainability isn’t hard
Scaleclear units don’t produce concentrated brine or send exhausted resin cartridges to landfill like traditional softeners. These units are designed to last 15+ years with no waste, no power, and no replacements. Once it reaches the end of its life, the entire product is fully recyclable.
Unconditional trust
Scaleclear conditioners combine decades of European engineering with our 70+ years of supplying Australian customers with high-quality products. Scaleclear comes with our standard 10-year warranty, with an added 12-month satisfaction guarantee; if you’re not happy with the conditioner after 364 days, we’ll refund it*, no questions asked.
*Refund of product as priced at time of original purchase. Installation not included.
How do I know which Scaleclear model to buy?
The best way to test whether your home needs a high flow or low flow conditioner is to find a container that holds a specific amount of water (ideally a 9-10L bucket), turn your garden hose or outdoor tap on as high as it will go, and record how long it takes to fill the container with water.
You can use that time to calculate your home's flow rate with this formula:
(Container size / seconds to fill) x 60
For example, if it takes 25 seconds to fill a 10L bucket up to the brim from your garden tap, your formula would be (10/25) x 60, giving you a flow rate of 24L/min. This falls within the 3-25L/min range for the low flow model.
What's the difference between Scaleclear and a typical water softener?
Solutions for limescale often involve expensive water softening units, short-lived resin cartridges, or integration with a larger whole-home filtration system. We’re all for filtration, but that’s a lot of hoops to jump through if you’re just looking for less limescale.
Scaleclear achieves the same end result as these other options, but with a much more straightforward approach. It doesn't use salt or expendable resins, doesn't produce any waste or brine, and doesn't require a power connection or any pre- or post-filtration. This means both the upfront expense and ongoing costs are significantly lower with Scaleclear than with a more elaborate softening setup.
Rather than softening the water by removing the minerals that contribute to hardness, Scaleclear conditions those minerals to behave differently.
Will the Low Flow model reduce my water pressure?
Not at all! The high flow and low flow names have nothing to do with how much water they allow through; they're about how much water is required to trigger the conditioning reaction.
If you don't have at least 24 L/min flowing through the Scaleclear high flow unit, the spiral alloy won't generate a strong enough charge to restructure CaCO₃. Similarly, if you have more than 25 L/min flowing through a Scaleclear low flow unit, the water may not be in contact with the differently configured alloy for long enough and not all of the CaCO₃ will be conditioned.
Scaleclear's different models are about performance, not restrictions.
Does Scaleclear reduce hardness?
Hardness is typically a measure of how much calcium carbonate is in your water. Scaleclear doesn't remove calcium like a traditional softener, so the hardness won't actually change—it just won't be as much of a problem.
Does Scaleclear reduce TDS?
Very few softeners or conditioners will have an impact on the total dissolved solids (TDS) in your water. Even processes that actively remove hard water minerals from your water typically replace them with something else (like sodium ions), so while the exact details of the dissolved solids will change, the measurable quantity will likely stay the same.
Scaleclear doesn't add or remove anything, so the TDS in your water won't change.
Will Scaleclear rust?
Scaleclear's catalytic spiral alloy is designed to resist rust and corrosion, just like your water pipes.
Will Scaleclear make my water more alkaline?
No, the conditioning process won't have any impact on the pH of your water. Scaleclear doesn't add or remove any particles or chemicals, it just restructures what's already there.
Do I have to buy a whole-home Cloudtap system first?
Not at all! Scaleclear is a completely independent product that can be added to your home regardless of whether you have a whole-home filtration system or not.
However, if you're considering a Cloudtap Design or Essential system, there are advantages to buying both products at once. If you have Scaleclear installed on the same day as your whole-home system, you only pay for a single installation fee rather than being charged for two separate plumber visits.
Additionally, if you're buying a Design Series system, you can have Scaleclear installed inside the system's enclosure to keep it safe and insulated.
Where should I install the Scaleclear unit?
We typically recommend one of two installation spots: right next to your water meter, or inside the enclosure of a Cloudtap Design Series system.
Since the conditioner has such a high pressure threshold and doesn't restrict flow rate, it can be placed before pressure limiting valves and reticulation splits to protect those valves and fittings from limescale. The earlier incoming water meets Scaleclear, the more of your pipes and plumbing will be protected.
If you live in an area with frequent active development or works that can add sediments to the mains pipeline, you may want to locate the conditioner after a sediment filter to avoid potential clogging. Installing the conditioner within the enclosure of a Cloudtap whole-home filtration system protects it from the elements and, if they're installed at the same time, saves money on installation costs.
How long will it take to show results?
Depending on how much CaCO₃ is in your water, you should start noticing a difference within the first month after installing a Scaleclear conditioner. If several months go by and you're not 100% satisfied with the product's performance, we'll give you a full refund.
How much does Scaleclear cost?
Both the high flow and low flow Scaleclear models have an RRP of $599.
Can I install a Scaleclear conditioner by myself?
If you're not a plumber, no. While the process of installing a Scaleclear unit is quite simple, it requires cutting into your home's mains pipe, which can only legally be done by a licensed plumber. We always recommend having a licensed technician perform any installations or maintenance on your home's plumbing to avoid future headaches and protect product warranties.
