While this won't turn unsafe or contaminated water into pure clean H2O, the bacteriostatic media will prevent some of the long-term issues that come from holding stagnant water over several months with regular exposure to environmental pollutants.

The 0.5-micron carbon block will repel particles 140x finer than a human hair, dealing with gutter gunk, airborne pollutants, and a broad range of impurities that impact the taste and smell of rainwater after it travels through your gutters and sits in a tank. We recommend supplementing this filter with some kind of chlorine or UV treatment to deal with any bacteria that were already in the water before it entered the filter. These filters should be changed every 12 months to maintain optimal performance.
