This makes these 0.5-micron carbon filters the only option in our range that can filter chloramines just as effectively as chlorine.

Chloramines are a group of chlorine-ammonia compounds that are used in regions where mains water has to travel long distances between the treatment point and the consumer's home. Chlorine is an effective disinfectant, but it will break down and dissipate over time. By adding ammonia, the chlorine bonds into a stronger compound that remains intact and fully functional for much longer.

This is great for protecting people from waterborne diseases and bacterial infections, but it also means that you're more likely to have higher concentrations of disinfectant chemicals coming out of every tap and outlet in your home—and there's nothing most filters can do about it.
